Avoid the Flu

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the flu has been widespread throughout the nation, raising concern for many healthcare professionals and experts.

While the flu is treatable and usually non-lethal, people in high-risk groups are more exposed to the flu with complications and potential health threats.

To better prevent catching the flu, please take a look at these simple tips that anybody can follow:

  1. Avoid close contact

It’s very easy to transfer flu virus from sick people to healthy people. When you are sick, please be mindful and avoid crowds and public places such as stores, libraries, concerts and public transit.

  1. Stay home when you are sick

Similar to tip #1, you should spend as much time as you can at home instead of going out. This will significantly reduce the chance of you infecting other people with the flu.

  1. Cover your mouth and nose

When sneezing and coughing, please cover your mouth and nose. This is such an important thing to remember, as your saliva contains the virus and can easily bring flu to people around you.

  1. Clean your hands

You should be washing your hands frequently throughout the day, such as after bathroom usage, handling garbage, and preparing food, and being in public places.  Washing hands thoroughly and properly is one of the most effective ways to protect you from gems.

  1. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

It is very easy for germs to be passed along through physical contact. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth before washing your hands because that’s how people get the flu.
